Watsu
|
|
Watsu is a unique form of bodywork that combines warm pool water (92 degrees F.) with traditional shiatsu massage. The client is completely supported above the water by the therapist and the buoyancy of the pool water. The buoyancy of the water provides support for the client, thus freeing the weight-bearing muscles from tension and work. This allows the client to experience deep relaxation.
Additional benefits include:
- Decreased muscle tension
- Increased mobility and flexibility
- Pain reduction
- Improved posture
- Improved sleep
- Increased energy levels
|
The resistance of the water provides a gentle stretch as the therapist moves the client through the warm water. The warmth of the water allows the muscles to relax and deepens the stretch more. The client should wear a bathing suit.
Watsu sessions are also available in warm public pools.
